Volunteer Opportunity

Jade Music Festival is elevating Chinese-language music in Canada and beyond.

Inviting Chinese-language musics from all over the world and local emerging artists, the festival is ready to sing out loud! Featuring panels, live music showcases, talks, and workshops, be a part of this journey to spotlight underrepresented voices.

We look forward to having you on our volunteer team!

Front of House volunteers are the face of Jade Music Fest! You will be greeting festival attendees and have first look access to the showcases, talks, workshops, and panels. If you like face-to-face interactions with a crowd of music or language-lovers, this is the job for you!

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Greeting and seating guests
  • Keeping up to date of programming schedule
  • Promoting JMF programming to guests
  • Guiding and directing guests

Photographer volunteers will be our eyes throughout the festival! You, equipped with your camera, will have firsthand access to the events and capture all angles of Jade Music Fest. If you know your way around a camera and want to exercise your creativity, this is the job for you!

Artist Liaison volunteers take care of JMF artists throughout the festival. You will be in charge of keeping their schedule and ensuring their participation in the festival runs smoothly. If you are good with communication and thinking on your feet, this is the job for you!

Artist Liaison volunteers take care of JMF artists throughout the festival. You will be in charge of keeping their schedule and helping to translate between Mandarin and English for the artist. If you are good with languages and communication, this is the job for you!

Looking for more volunteer hours? Want to learn more behind the scenes? Or are you building up your resume with hands on experience? Join our team today!  We are looking for long term volunteers, who like to think outside the box, have an interest in learning new things, and is a team player. Looking for a commitment of 3 months, with flexible hours based on your availability. This position is open for remote work.

Are you a social media enthusiast? Do you have an eye for what’s in the trend and what’s the latest hashtag?

We are looking for creative individuals to work with us on running and managing our social media pages. We welcome people who like to think outside the box, have an interest in learning new things, and is a team player.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing social media posts
  • Researching
  • Communicating with staff
  • Managing social media pages (including posting and monitoring messages)
  • Creating/editing graphics and images (experience with Photoshop / Illustrator an asset)

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter
  • Ability to understand Mandarin / Chinese an asset
  • Previous experience in managing social media an asset

This is a VOLUNTEER position, aimed at people who would like to build up their resume with hands on experience. We ask for a commitment of about 3 months, with flexible hours based on your availability. This position is open for remote work.

  • Filing and organizing inventory

  • Familiarity with Google Suite applications, Microsoft Office

This is a VOLUNTEER position, aimed at people who would like to build up their resume with hands on experience. We ask for a commitment of about 3 months, with flexible hours based on your availability. This position is open for remote work.

Want to gain hands on experience building and maintaining websites, and test your creativity to its limit? Join our team today!

Responsibilities:

  • Create responsive and custom WordPress websites using Elementor page builder as a foundation, and able to tailor the rest of the site to match mockups
  • Upload festival program content to our website using WordPress platform
  • Development, debugging and maintenance of existing and new WordPress web projects
  • Check website content for accuracy, links, bugs, etc
  • Proofread and edit text before publishing
  • Frequent communication with website staff to adhere to scheduled updates

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to understand Mandarin / Chinese an asset
  • Previous WordPress experience a plus but not required
  • Willingness to learn and ask questions
  • Attention to accuracy and detail
  • Familiarity with Google Suite applications, Microsoft Office
