SCHOOL OUTREACH ACTIVITY LEADER

Celebrate the Lunar New Year like no other with LunarFest! An annual arts and culture festival held in Vancouver, we host a variety of events to build connections within our beautifully diverse community. Our School Outreach Program provides virtual craft workshops for elementary students in the nearby school districts. 2024 is the Year of the Dragon. We will be creating a craft that captures the dragon’s strength and uniqueness, encouraging us to build a society where everyone is Born to be Free.

 

Job Description:

Activity Leader Volunteers will introduce, lead, and assist students in one-hour workshop activities on Zoom or Teams. Training and orientation will also be held virtually prior to your first shift. All applicants must agree to an interview.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead 4 – 6 workshop sessions per week starting Jan 22nd – Feb 8th
  • Learn about LunarFest programs and the activity lesson plans in advance
  • Attend the mandatory orientation and training

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead craft activity with large groups while following scheduled lesson plan
  • Enjoy working with and telling stories to children
  • Workshops will be during school hours; volunteers must be available a minimum 4 sessions per week at these times
  • Experience working with school-aged children in arts-related activities is an asset
  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Willingness to learn
  • Good public speaking skills
